Legacy Exhibit

My most ambitious art exhibit - almost two years in the making - is on display through March 31, 2009, at the Sorenson Unity Center in Salt Lake City (1300 S. and 900 W.). Titled, "Legacy - Things you don't understand about the living until after they're gone," the exhibit includes mixed media paintings based on stories family and friends told about my mother after she died, along with excerpts from the blog I wrote during the six months I cared for her and my father.

Using a mostly whimsical style, the figurative paintings tell a universal story of aging, caregiving (with its joys and frustrations), loss, and wonderful memories.

New Blog - vitaminCreativity!

It wasn't until sometime in my "middle" years that I realized what a difference "creativity" means in my life. At the same time I realized that creativity takes many forms. It's not just about painting, which I love to do, but it's also about creative problem solving in business, innovating in non-profits, or even organizing around the house.

If creativity makes such a difference in the way we feel about life and work, why don't we approach it with intention? Why don't we take a daily dose, just as we pop a vitamin, to make us feel good and to inoculate us from the effects of stress and boredom?

In my new blog, I invite readers to share my own daily dose as I work on my creative process as a writer and painter. I've committed to daily writing and daily painting and I'll share images of my paintings as they are completed.

I hope my experience will be an inspiration, a challenge, and an encouragement for you to intentionally work on your creative process and make time for your daily dose! Click here to visit the blog (http://vitaminCreativity.typepad.com).
